TFF host study tour for South Pacific foresters.

In late November – early December, 2012, TFF-Indonesia had the pleasure of organizing a study tour for 15 foresters from the South Pacific nations of Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea.

The study tour was funded by GIZ-Fiji as part of their program to promote the adoption of reduced impact logging practices.

The study tour featured a workshop on RIL followed by a field visit to the industry and concession of PT Sari Bumi Kusuma.  A wrap-up workshop featured presentations by GIZ-Indonesia and the Ministry of Forests on the national activities for REDD+ and climate change mitigation.

PT Sari Bumi Kusuma graciously agreed to be the ‘model’ concession chosen by TFF and provided a sterling example of sustainable forest management and outstanding Indonesian hospitality!  Many thanks to the Alas Kusuma Group and to the management and staff of PT Sari Bumi Kusuma.
